Luke 1:37 For with God, nothing shall be impossible.
Have you ever thought of those words? Ever considered the scope of those words? Ever considered the restriction of those words?
“With God” – that means just that – WITH GOD nothing shall be impossible.
I think far too often I hear the verse that says “with God, NOTHING SHALL BE IMPOSSIBLE.” When really, God’s emphasis is on the “WITH GOD”.
Having God with me is the most important part of that little verse. Before I claim that nothing is impossible, I’d better be really sure that I’m WITH GOD. Not that He’s with me, but that I’m with Him. Oftentimes I’m just going along my merry little way, assuming that what I’m doing is God’s will simply because I’m doing it. But that may not be the case. I need to actually check with Him.
Maybe that’s why we’re defeated so often. We don’t check with God first to see if our actions are what God wants for us.
So before we go off into that next battle, be extra sure that God is directing us there – not just following us into it. God is the leader, not you or I. He’s the One that tells us to go here or there, or fight in this battle or sit this next one out. He is the One who tells us what to say if we’ll let Him guide our tongue. He’s the One that brings us shelter and refuge when we’re weary and battered.
And remember, WITH GOD, nothing shall be impossible.
About the Author:
Sherry grew up in various cities around northern and central California. This gave her all sorts of stories that sat and festered in her brain, waiting to be let loose. She eventually went to college in Wisconsin, where she met her equally frenetic husband, Rich. They have six (yes, count them) children, two dogs and a cat, and currently reside in a madhouse in the southern California area. As a family, they enjoy being active in their local church. Sherry spends her time writing when not caring for Granny, the kids, the dogs, the cat and any number of strays in the neighborhood.
