Title: The Savvy Demon’s Guide to Godly Living

Author: Brad Francis

Rating: Four out of five stars

About the Book

Mechoir, a demon whose job description is to cause distractions and stop the Pastor and church members of Compton Baptist Church from being effective Christians, is so bored that he decides to visit the Pastor and his wife and tell them what they need to do in order to actually be real Followers of Christ. Yes, he’s quite drunk and might have thought it through if sober, but this little conversation ignites a fireball of change in Pastor Doug and his wife, Joan; which in turn snowballs into a great impact in the community and lives of many in Compton.

The Savvy Demon’s Guide to Godly Living

What would you do if a demon that has been assigned to you and your church showed up at your door to tell you how ineffective you’ve become and it’s giving him nothing to do? Doug and Joan, Pastor and First Lady of Compton Baptist Church did and little did they know that it was the beginning of God bringing a revival to their hearts and Faith.

I was given this book to read and asked to give an honest review. I am not a talented writer, so bear with me. I can’t come up with enough superlatives to beg everyone to read this book. I love the writing style of Brad Francis in this book. He writes as if he is telling a story in your livingroom – or as a director, that stops the scene for a moment in order to give us some important information, or warning that he’s changing to another scene. The subject, or message if you will, comes through loud and clear. As the American part of God’s Church we are becoming complacent, lukewarm. Most of us are comfortable going to Church, singing our praise songs and listening to the sermon on Sundays. But are we making an impact on the world? Are we “making disciples”?

The characters will become your family. You will find yourself wanting to pray for, and with, certain characters. That is how well it is written. This book has impacted my Christian Walk, and pierced my heart in conviction in some cases. I felt God speaking directly to me as I was forced to consider if I am really reflecting Christ in all areas of my life.

WARNING: In good conscience, I must warn that there is language and situations that warrant this book, as it is written before it is officially released, be labeled as for ADULTS ONLY. I personally have contacted the author and addressed the issues that may cause some to be distracted, or not continue reading. In order to show the contrast of life in Darkness and in the Light, the author uses dialogue that is contemporary and unfortunately, part of the world today. I BEG YOU NOT TO LET IT STOP YOU FROM READING THE ENTIRE BOOK, because the message is so much more important than our initial shock or distaste for those small areas. And when the book is released, these areas may even be addressed, so this would be mute.
And even if it remains as I’ve read it – don’t let this stop you from reading the entire story. I promise if you stay focused on the message, you will gain new perspective and also enjoy the book.
