What Is God Asking You?

What Is God Asking You?

by Rebekah Beene

Danny decided to clean out my coffee mug collection. Only I didn’t know he had that plan until I arrived home and mugs were all over the kitchen counter. Those mugs have been stored in an entire corner of our kitchen cabinets for as long as we’ve lived here. He just decided that we didn’t need that many mugs in the cabinet. He’s right.
But within that mug set were many precious memories. Some of them are my parent’s coffee mugs from long ago. Some are gifts. Some are my favorites to drink from. There are scripture mugs and church mugs and funny mugs. I didn’t really want that corner of my kitchen to change. But I didn’t need dozens of coffee mugs in the cabinet. After I got over my shock I sorted through those precious memories on the counter tops and let them go. A couple of those mugs had been glued back together, never to be useful for drinking from again. Why was I keeping broken mugs? Danny wasn’t trying to hurt my feelings, he was trying to help. And it did help. It spurred me on to get rid of more “stuff’ in the cabinets. When you’ve lived somewhere for over 20 years there tends to be too much excess. So we laughed about all those mugs and I let them go.
Oh beloved, what is God asking you to let go of? Is He saying it’s time to de-clutter your life? Are you willing to let Him decide what stays and what goes? It’s tough isn’t it? As I looked at the mugs in the box headed for elsewhere I thought of my whole life. The things I’ve tried to hang onto and the things I’ve held dear that either slipped through my fingers or were torn from me. God wants us free of entanglements. Whether it’s memorabilia or memories, He wants to set us free to live an uncluttered life. He’s not trying to hurt our feelings. He’s not allowing sorrow to become our focus. He will use even the broken places, the shattered dreams and the unusable stuff of our lives to show us where we need to un-clutter.
He says to you this morning trust Me. When the relationships are broken and you’ve prayed to keep them intact, trust Him. When the heart is sorrowful over things long gone and you just want them back, trust Him. When you feel empty inside, trust Him. He’s got so much more ahead for you. And beloved, what He removes He replaces. Only He replaces the removed with His presence, His peace, and His better.
God loves you and He’s for you. Let Him clean things out for you. Let Him manifest His presence in the broken, empty and precious places. God is trustworthy, faithful and true. You may not know what He’s doing now, but it’s all for your good and His glory. Jesus sealed that deal on the cross and Holy Spirit within you will walk you out of the stuff and into the best as you live a free life letting God choose what goes, what stays and what returns. It’s all good in the Light of His Glory and Grace.
Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in and rely confidently on the Lord with all your heart and do not rely on your own insight or understanding. In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, and He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]. AMP
Psalm 84:12 O LORD of Heaven’s Armies, what joy for those who trust in You.
Daniel 6:23 Then the king was very pleased and gave orders for Daniel to be taken up out of the den. So Daniel was taken up out of the den and no injury whatever was found on him, because he had trusted in his God.

When Zach discovers three helpless females have taken up residence at the old farm next door, he expects trouble. But a mouse invasion proves Jo has everything under control. Is there anything she can’t handle? And surely there’s something sweet beneath all that tart.

Love Begins

by Teresa Slack

Love Begins

“If I wasn’t such a good Christian, you’d be in an orphanage somewhere, young lady.”

Abandoned by their parents, Michelle Hurley and her kid sister Nicole are reminded every day their livelihood depends on a grandmother who never wanted them. Nearly twenty years later, Michelle has accepted the fact she isn’t worthy of the love she so desperately needed as a child.

Her comfortable, albeit lonely, existence comes crashing down the morning Nicole abandons her two young children under Michelle’s lilac bushes. Michelle doesn’t want to be responsible for fixing Nicole’s mistakes. Again. Nor does she want to admit she may be just like the grandmother she can’t forgive.

When as old boyfriend re-enters her life, Michelle is reminded nothing has worked out the way she hoped it would. Kyle Swann also makes her realize shutting her heart against the world could be the worst mistake she ever made.

Love Begins is the first installment of the Tender Blessings contemporary series.

This thought-provoking contemporary romance examines the changing dynamics of family relationships and issues. Infused with honesty and humor, it will capture the hearts of readers who love children, understand their challenges and appreciate the many definitions of family.

Jane Austen Upside Down

by Jan Thompson

Jane Austen Upside Down

Jane Austen fans, what’s your favorite Austen novel? Mine is PERSUASION, but I couldn’t help thinking of alternate worlds, hence this parody.

What if Anne Elliot weren’t the capable one? What if it were her sister, Mary Musgrove, instead? A capable Mary and a helpless Anne? Oh, the thought. Why, the Regency world might be upside down! Who would Captain Wentworth take back to sea with him? Read to find out!

The challenge of the day is to find all the differences between Jan Thompson’s JANE AUSTEN UPSIDE DOWN: A PERSUASION PARODY short story and that original Jane Austen Right Side Up, the classic PERSUASION. Well, let the scavenger hunt begin.

If you are looking for something quick and Regency, clean and sweet to read, here’s a short story that fits into your smart phone. Happy reading!
