I was escorted to church yesterday by blue flashing lights.
That could be the end of the story but then you might think I was a celebrity or something special was going on. Actually I was driving over the speed limit. I didn’t even realize it. A car full of kiddos and excitement about church must have given me a lead foot. The officer spied me from a gravel parking lot just before I arrived at my destination. I thought about trying to hide from church but it was what it was.
So I felt God saying “pull into the church yard”. He pulled in after me. There I was with my “mistake” all out in the open for my church family to see. Thankfully he gave me a warning. I felt blessed and the kids celebrated. We got out of the car as soon as he left and began to walk to the building. Expecting guffaws and maybe even a scolding from someone… But the senior pastor met me halfway. He offered more help. As I walked in I was greeted in the love I always am greeted with.
Only later that afternoon did I find out that inside the building, while they were watching, my church family was praying for me.
Oh beloved, God is not waiting to arrest you for your missteps. He is not towering over you with a lesson to learn, although you can learn lessons from Him in the midst of your sins. We don’t even like the word sin, but we all have to deal with it. Some sins are displayed in parking lots while others are carried alone in secret. God sees them all. He knows the random mistakes and the overwhelming reoccurring disasters that some go through. He is with you. He is with me. He is with His children. His love covers a multitude of sins. Man’s rationale is pay big time and you learn your lesson. God’s rationale is Jesus ever interceding at the throne 24/7 for you and me.
Your life isn’t supposed to be filled with sinful acts against God’s plan for your life. But when you need help and you are caught in the mess, He is your Advocate. Always, forever, without hesitation – He is on your side! Don’t hesitate to run to Him and ask His forgiveness and expect His loving embrace – every single time.
God loves you and He’s for you. I pray you have people who are praying for you regardless of where you are, but most of all know you have a Savior who is praying, keeping you safe, granting you mercy and still using you for His glory as you live in the Light of His benevolent love for you.
I John 2:1 My dear children, I am writing this to you so that you will not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an Advocate who pleads our case before the Father. He is Jesus Christ, the one who is truly righteous.
Romans 8:34 Who then will condemn us? No one–for Christ Jesus died for us and was raised to life for us, and He is sitting in the place of honor at God’s right hand, pleading for us.
Hosea 2:19 I will betroth you to Me forever; Yes, I will betroth you to Me in righteousness and in justice, In lovingkindness and in compassion,
