From the Book:

The task was finally finished.

Gregory Evans smiled at the thought of what he had accomplished as his assistants piled the remaining jewels, works of art, and other signs of wealth into the large, unmarked freight trucks.  His deal with the Germans that he was supposed to give them a run-down of the wealth that was taken from the Jews, and then all the liquidated wealth would be turned over to the German government.

Gregory had different ideas…

From the Book

“Giovanni.  Giovanni, not like that.”  Vincenzo Cavatelli yanked a brown tweed beret from his head and tossed it to the ground. “You will burn the ropes!”

Giovanni released the burner instantly. “I’m sorry, Uncle. I thought you said…”

“I never said, ‘Burn the ropes.'” Shoving Giovanni aside, Vinnie angled the burner himself. A flash of blue flame shot into the balloon envelope stretched out on the ground.

“Go hold the fan,” he said. “Maybe you can do that without destroying everything.”

From the Book

“As I write this Bible Study, it is becoming more and more apparent that faith is a choice. A lot of times we don’t walk in faith with God because we don’t really want to give up control of our life, or we simply do not believe God will come through for us, or He really isn’t sovereign…”

Quick Pick Four

“You’re never going to believe who’s coming to Denver!” Lynn Isley squealed as she streaked into the empty restaurant from the kitchen doors.

Standing at the cash register counting change, Beth McCasland barely even looked up. “Who?

Lynn dropped her voice conspiratorially although there wasn’t a single soul in the place to overhear her anyway.  “Ashton Raines!”

“65.82.”  Beth dumped the pennies back into the register and frowned. “Ashton Raines? Isn’t he that country singer?”

That country singer?” Lynn asked in disbelief. “Are you kidding me?  Ashton Raines is the country singer…”

Her name was Tamar.

Something about her was so tragic, so poetic, so beyond my ability to fix, but I was transfixed, enthralled, and gripped as if I knew she’d change my life in every way…
