You Don’t Climb Alone

You Don’t Climb Alone

by Rebekah Beene

The Illinois monument at Vicksburg came to mind yesterday morning. There are forty-seven steps in the long stairway, one for each day of the Siege of Vicksburg.

How high and steep they were! I wanted to climb them but fear kept me on the ground. Instead I sent fearless Danny up. Quickly he loved it and the view from the top.
Oh beloved. There comes a time we must all face our own set of steps. We must make the climb and we don’t know how many steps there will be. Others can’t walk it for us.

But you beloved don’t walk it alone. You have enough inner strength today to do whatever is before you by virtue of the Holy Spirit. Within you is great faith and strong resolve. Whatever you are facing you will overcome. This present situation is already a victory for you. Just climb and rejoice all the way!

God loves you and He is for you. Remember that you do nothing in your own flesh but by the Spirit you will scale the heights and see the view from the top. Praise the Lord that you can live in the power of the resurrection life!

John 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing.

Zechariah 4:6 Then he said to me, “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel saying, ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ says the LORD of hosts.

Romans 8:37 No, despite all these things, overwhelming victory is ours through Christ, who loved us.

Those Karlsson Boys

Waiting for Rachel
Damian Karlsson has decided it’s time to settle down and have a family. He has set his sights on Rachel Perkins, but can’t figure out why she won’t even give him a chance. It seems to Damian she feels something for him, but still she resists. Damian is determined to find out why.
Though she is attracted to Damian, Rachel is equally determined to keep her secrets close to her heart. Men she loved have betrayed her in the past, and she isn’t prepared to take that risk again. But when her secrets are forced out in the open, will Rachel discover that forgiveness and trust are worth the risk when it leads to love?
“This was a nice book, & I am looking forward to the next one. The family is one that I really have connected with! This story has quite a few pieces of my life in it! I can’t wait to get to know the Karlsson boys better in the next book! Strong, faith-filled, family men are so sexy!!!!”
“This book was wonderful. The Karlsson boys are truly great men that were raised right!”

Worth the Wait
Home for his brother’s wedding, Alex Karlsson meets a woman who captures his attention and makes him start thinking about the future. As the founder of the Marriage First ministry, Alex has always advocated sexual purity and waiting for marriage. His prayer has been to find a wife who also feels the same way. He feels a connection with Serena Menard and wonders if she might be the one he’s been waiting for all these years.
Serena can’t deny that Alex holds an attraction for her, but she is fairly certain that she is not the wife he been praying for. He doesn’t seem to get her subtle hints that she doesn’t think a relationship between them is a good idea. Finally she decides to give him a chance, hoping that he will see her through God’s eyes and that love will prevail.
Will long held ideals and secrets doom their relationship before it even starts? Or will they able to trust God when all hope seems lost?
“The Karlsson boys are sweet, fun, and cute! This is a great romance novel if that’s what you are looking for, this is your book!”
“You get so absorbed in the reading,as if you are a part of the plot, you just can’t put it down until you finish it.”

The Waiting Heart
A family crisis brings Jace Karlsson back to Minnesota and face to face with the girl he loved and abandoned eight years earlier. When the opportunity arises to help her, he hopes that it will make amends for his actions of the past. But old feelings die hard, and Jace soon realizes he feels more than guilt and remorse.
While the tragic accident left Mari with a broken and scarred body, it was Jace Karlsson’s abrupt departure from her life that left her heart shattered. When he offers to help her realize a dream, Mari accepts but as she deals with the emotions of the past and the present, she wonders if the price is too high.
“As with all of her books, the characters will live in your mind. The theme of this book is guilt and forgiveness. Two topics that speak to the heart of just about everyone. It isn’t preachy at all and done in a very real way”
“If you enjoy contemporary Christian romance then this is a series for you”.

To See the Sun

To See the Sun

Pregnant and widowed hadn’t been part of her “happily ever after” dream. And now, someone was trying to kill her . . . Erin Macintyre never expected to be a widow and a new mother in the same year, anymore than she expected mysterious notes, threatening phone calls, and a strange homeless man who seems to know all about her. The thought of raising a child without a father is daunting enough—worse when you have no idea who might want to harm you. Put an old flame into the mix, and her life begins a tailspin into a world she never knew existed. When P.I. Clay Buchanan, stumbles upon Erin at her husband’s gravesite, he’s totally unprepared for her advanced pregnancy. Her venomous reaction at seeing him, however, was predictable. But Clay can’t let her distrust, or his guilt, get in the way—not when he has evidence that proves Erin’s life is in danger. With few options left, Erin begrudgingly accepts Clay’s help . . . and it just might be her undoing.

When she realizes that he is in need of help caring for his four sons, she decides to see if he’d be interested in making a deal. She’d help him with his boys, and he’d help her with the repairs to her aging house. Steve makes it clear he’s not in the market for a wife which is just fine with her. She has her own reasons for not wanting to get involved romantically.

Steve has no interest in a relationship after having dealt with his ex-wife and her rejection of their boys. However, he finds himself drawn to Emily as she showers his boys with love in the same way she does with her own four children. But is it just gratitude or something more? Is it possible that God has a different plan for their families than what they’d thought they wanted?

Stayed tuned for the next Christian romance – A Change of Heart – in the The Callaghans & McFaddens series coming July 2016.

Learning to Fish for Souls

Learning to Fish for Souls

“Go to the lost, confused people right here
in the neighborhood. Tell them that the kingdom is here.”
(Matt. 10:6-7 Msg)

Learning to fish was never at the top of my list when I was a young girl. My father and I went fishing only once. He baited my hook. Squeezing those wiggly worms onto a sharp hook was too yucky. We didn’t use any fancy lures or have much knowledge of fishing.

The above verses command us, as Christians, to do the highest kind of fishing, the same kind Jesus taught the disciples to do – to fish for souls. In order to accomplish that, our lives must be fresh bait on the hook of the gospel.

The problem is that most of us don’t like to fish. We cringe at the thought of baiting the witnessing hook. It isn’t necessary to have all the right equipment or knowledge, just a willing heart. When we are willing, the Lord says He will teach us, “I will show you how to fish for the souls of men!” (Matt. 4:19 TLB)

My father and I never caught anything, but my Father and I have! I’m not proficient at it, yet; I’m still learning how to bait my hook.

Prayer: Lord, You came to seek and to save that which was lost. You died for this very reason. May the eternal destination of one who does not know You be of more concern to me than my own inadequacies to witness. Amen.
