Holy Foresight by Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Holy Foresight by Charles Haddon Spurgeon

Nevertheless I say unto you, Hereafter shall ye see the Son of man sitting on the right hand of power, and coming in the clouds of Heaven. (Matthew 26:64)

Ah, Lord, Thou wast in Thy lowest state when before Thy persecutors Thou wast made to stand like a criminal! Yet the eyes of Thy faith could see beyond Thy present humiliation into Thy future glory. What words are these, “Nevertheless-hereafter!” I would imitate Thy holy foresight, and in the midst of poverty, or sickness, or slander, I also would say, “Nevertheless-hereafter.” Instead of weakness, Thou hast all power; instead of shame, all glory; instead of derision, all worship, Thy cross has not dimmed the splendor of Thy crown, neither has the spittle marred the beauty of Thy face. Say, rather, Thou art the more exalted and honored because of Thy sufferings.

So, Lord, I also would take courage from the “hereafter.” I would forget the present tribulation in the future triumph. Help thou me by directing me into Thy Father’s love and into Thine own patience, so that when I am derided for Thy name I may not be staggered but think more and more of the hereafter, and, therefore, all the less of today. I shall be with Thee soon and behold Thy glory. Wherefore, I am not ashamed but say in my inmost soul, “Nevertheless-hereafter.”

Mirror Mirror

California golden girl, Sage Wentworth’s life looks perfect from the outside looking in. She’s got money, friends, and all the social status a girl could want. But underneath the glitz and glamour, Sage’s perfect existence holds many dark secrets—secrets even she herself doesn’t know. When she is unceremoniously sent to live with her biological father’s family in North Carolina for the summer, Sage finds herself swimming in very unfamiliar waters with seemingly friendly sharks poised to eat her alive on every side. Can Sage navigate these treacherous waters long enough to get back home, or has life for this golden girl changed forever? Luke Baker has always considered himself a slacker of the first order. He’s not particularly athletic, musical, talented or intelligent. In fact, his “talents” such as they are run more in the vein of helping people when they most need it, and right now, that talent is much-needed by his best friend, Jaycee Lawrence who is facing the arrival of the stepsister she had gladly forgotten ever existed. A whole summer trying to talk Jaycee down off the ledge while simultaneously fighting like mad not to fall for her gorgeous, unattainable older sister? Yeah, this should be fun…

At 240,000+ Words, this EPIC Christian Romance Novel takes you into a family struggling with past sins, secrets, and lies. Can GRACE ever hope to heal this mess?

The Light of His Loving Presence and Care

The Light of His Loving Presence and Care

By: Rebekah Beene

I know I’m not the only wife who has little worries about her husband. The first time I remember thinking my sweetheart was dying was when he had an allergic reaction in the 80’s. The next time was when he grabbed his chest and exclaimed “ow!” while we were riding the motorcycle! That one will get you for sure! Then there were the blowouts on motorcycles. Off and on through the years he’s had some mighty close calls – all of which turned out fine. We are getting older, so when he has heartburn or grabs his back in momentary flinches I automatically say “What’s wrong?” “Are you okay?” and then “Don’t scare me!”

As we sat on the couch together yesterday morning before I headed to work I took his hand and held it. Then I just sighed. He wanted to know why and I told him I just enjoyed sitting there in the quiet of the morning. Holding his hand was so very comforting – that hand I’ve held for many, many years. I don’t want to every quit holding his hand. Together is so very good. Forever is even better.

I also know that no matter what I have a Savior Who promises to hold my hand forever, through all things, in spite of whatever comes my way and even if I find myself without other hands to hold.

Oh beloved, this is how God feels about you. He loves you. He relishes time with you side by side. He wants you to know that He is that constant companion that will never leave you or forsake you. If you are alone, you don’t have to be lonely. Even if you have close ties with a loved one, it is God’s hand that will keep you secure and give you ultimate satisfaction. No other person, place or thing can do for you what God does. His hand of anointing is on you. His hand of blessing is over you. His hand of protection is all around you. This is where your true power comes from. Fear has to leave, worries have to flee, and questions are silenced.

God loves you and He’s for you! Rest in His Presence and let Him hold your hand all the way as you live in the Light of His Loving Presence and Care.

Isaiah 41:10.  Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with My victorious right hand.

Isaiah 41:13. For I am the LORD your God, who upholds your right hand, Who says to you, ‘Do not fear, I will help you.’

Psalm 63:8 I cling to You; Your strong right hand holds me securely.

Psalm 18:35. You have also given me the shield of Your salvation, And Your right hand upholds me; And Your gentleness makes me great.

Hosea 6:3.  Oh, that we might know the LORD! Let us press on to know Him. He will respond to us as surely as the arrival of dawn or the coming of rains in early spring.

About the Book

Her only hope to escape an outlaw gang is to marry one of them.

With Pa off on a cattle drive, Jeannie Baylor is alone on their isolated Wyoming ranch. When she’s taken captive by a gang of ruthless outlaws, she realizes her virtue is in imminent danger, and her life is safe only as long as they need her house for a hideout.

Unexpectedly, the youngest outlaw, Zak Collins, a handsome man with bitterness in his stone gray-green eyes, proposes a fantastic scheme to save her life. Having no other choice, she has to trust Zak. But God gives her another way, and its success depends on the cloak she’s crocheting for a friend.

I enjoyed this very powerful Christian mystery suspense story. Jeannie Baylor is home alone on the ranch when she is taken a hostage in her home by a gang of outlaws on the run from a posse. Two of the outlaws are especially evil, Clive and Horace, and the youngest one, Zak, is different. He talks Clive into a scheme where Horace, a former minister, will marry Jeannie and Zak and then take her with them. Not everyone is who they seem. Zak is kind and helpful, doing his best to protect Jeannie from the others. Jeannie prays and puts her faith in God and even convinces Zak to read the Bible to her. As a human under duress, she does have some weak moments and even questioning why some prayers go unanswered, but in the end, she decides, whatever happens, will be God’s will.

The plot of the story kept me captivated and the pages turning. At times it is intense, and the suspense is nerve-wracking. The story has a great cast of characters, with the villains come across as heartless vile outlaws with no regard for human life. The plot twists will have you on the edge of your seat as it unfolds. No matter how bad things are, Jeannie remains a Christian, offering aid to her captors and even praying for them.
